The world has transformed over the last 10 years. Steve Jobs was determined to make a ‘dent in the universe’ and the introduction of the iPhone (followed by other similar smartphones) was an inflection point in our lives.
While it may not have been very obvious at the time of its release, the iPhone ushered in a wave of new technology which changed how we interact with the world and with each other.
Unfortunately, the changes weren’t all for the better.
Increased anxiety, shorter attention spans, and other health issues have now been linked to excessive smartphone usage.
But here’s the good news: If you can limit your interactions with your smartphone by only checking it at specific times during the day, you’ll feel a sense of freedom you haven’t felt for a long time. The freedom you feel when you‘re lying on a beach watching the waves roll in.
You could also white-knuckle it and go cold turkey. Ditch your phone at home and spend an entire day outdoors. The first couple of hours will be tough but chances are you’ll be much happier for it.
Try it.
